Below are my top ten photos from the preliminary round of the 2009 College World Series.

1. LSU's Mikie Mahtook makes a diving catch in center field for the second out in the top of the second inning of game 1. This catch was ESPN's #2 play of the day. The rest of this series of photos is posted here.



2. Brett Eibner's ninth inning home run to tie up game 9 in the top of the ninth inning. The Arkansas Razorbacks went on to win the game in twelve innings. The rest of this series of photos is posted here.



3. Connor Rowe's bottom of the ninth, game winning solo home run in game 12. This blast eliminated ASU and put Texas in the finals. The rest of this series of photos is posted here.



4. Cameron Rupp's monster home run over the batter's eye in dead center field to tie up game 12 with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The rest of this series of photos is posted here.

9. LSU's Sean Ochinko hits a three-run homer run in the bottom of the fifth inning of game 2, giving the Tigers a 6-5 lead over Virginia. The rest of this series of photos is posted here.



10. ASU's Kole Calhoun hits a three-run home run in the top of the tenth inning off of North Carolina's Brian Moran, putting ASU up 5-1. This home run proved to be the game winner, when ASU won 5-2 in ten innings. This was Kole Calhoun's first of three home runs in the 2009 College World Series. LSU Wins!

Finals - Game 2: Jungmann strikes out final batter

Taylor Jungmann stikes out LSU's Leon Landry for the final out of game 2 of the champiohship series of the 2009 College World Series, preserving the Longhorns' 5-1 victory. Jungmann threw a five-hit complete game, striking out two in the bottom of the ninth inning.
